This year the Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating the team's 100th anniversary. It's a whole century full of style, talent and unique shows. During their anniversary tour, the players are bringing basketball back to arenas around the world on a whole new level, and in early fall they will also visit Poland with a show that commemorates their history and heralds a new era.
From Chicago to the world
What began in Chicago in 1926 as a bold step against exclusion has become a global legend. The team of African-American players shook up the sport by displaying skill, charisma and a game that changed everything. Today, the name Harlem Globetrotters is synonymous around the world with spectacular basketball that no one else plays. But instead of resting on their laurels, they go one step further with each performance. This tour is not a flashback. It's the next step: their style of play is more creative, dynamic and inspiring than ever before and invariably influences players from around the world.

During the events, the emphasis is on sports. But not just any sport. Throws from one's own half, dunks with a long flight, incredible ball control, passing sequences like from a video game. Breakthroughs
When the Harlem Globetrotters twice defeated the best team of the era - the Minneapolis Lakers - in 1948 and 1949, they made sports history. In 1950, Nathaniel "Sweetwater" Clifton became the first black basketball player to sign an NBA contract. Just a year later, the Harlems played in front of more than 75,000 fans at Berlin's Olympic Stadium - a legendary moment. In the 1970s they became cartoon characters on American television, in 1982 they received their star on the Hollywood Hall of Fame, and in 1985 Lynette Woodard wrote another chapter of history: as the first woman on the team, sending a strong message for equality and diversity. In 2002, the Harlem Globetrotters were inducted into the legendary Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Records, significance, reach
Celebrities such as Nelson Mandela, Pope Francis and Whoopi Goldberg have become honorary globetrotters and also proof of the team's global reach. Today, the players are celebrating records on all stages: with their performance in 124 countries, having 150 million fans around the world and a relentless pursuit of records that leave a clear mark in the Guinness Book of World Records. They have long been a phenomenon in the digital world: more than 4.2 million followers accompany the Harlem Globetrotters on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and other platforms.
